Baby Bibs and Blankies Bursting with Culture
This Thanksgiving holiday provided the rare opportunity to gather as a family, as my parents and siblings are spread across the United States, United Kingdom and Uganda. My husband and I had our second son earlier this year, and my brother and sister welcomed their firstborn daughters, so a reunion was in order. Needless to say, I’ve had endless conversations with friends, parents, family members and strangers about the cookie-cutter nature of baby products, and the need for more multicultural offerings.
After searching far and wide for bibs and blankies integrating Ugandan patterns, my sister-in-law was inspired to create her own. Each bib and blankie is infused with cultural patterns, custom handmade using 100% cotton, fleece and assorted textured tags, and provides comfort and sensory experiences to promote your baby’s development. The first iteration of products take you through the iconic London Underground, then to National Theatre—Kampala’s open air market where one can find classic patterns and unique crafts, and finally to Mangalagiri–India’s fabric capital for pure and durable cotton exclusive to the region, and known for its delicate, distinctive designs with bursts of color at every turn.
If you can relate to the frustrations of not finding multicultural baby products, please check out our blankies and bibs, which are available for purchase.

I am interested in purchasing some bandana bibs but do not order anything on line. Is there any way that I can send the amount to you?

Martha–I’m glad I was able to bring the bibs to Ione’s dance class so you could purchase there! I hope the second expectant family enjoys the bibs as much as the first! Take care, ~Jacqueline
